WWO -Hike Levels
This hike level is generally suitable for anyone who enjoys walking and wants to start exploring outdoor adventure. This is the perfect hike level for someone who has just moved to the area and is not use to hiking at elevation.
Hikes: generally 3 miles in distance with no more than 500-600 feet elevation gain, mostly flat with some aspects of mild incline.
Starting elevation is between 5,000 and 8,000 feet (Starting Elevation will vairy based on State and location). Stops are made frequently throughout the hike for rest breaks.
Someone who is in good hiking condition. Moderately strenuous hikes which will generally be challenging for an unconditioned person. The terrain will involve a steady and sometimes steep incline for shorter periods of time.
Hikes: generally 3-6 miles in distance with no more than 500-1,000 feet elevation gain.
Starting elevation is between 6,000 and 10,000 feet (Starting elevation will vairy depending on State and location). Stops are made less frequently throughout the hike for rest breaks, but do occur throughout the hike.
Individual who is in great hiking condition who can hike 6+ miles with consistent incline with minimal/no stops or rest breaks.
The hike will generally be longer and steeper, and may be deemed "strenuous" because of the elevation gain and/or the starting elevation being around 10,000 feet (Starting elevation will vairy depending on State and location). The hike may include rock scrambling, stream crossings, and other challenging terrain.
Hikes: generally 6+ miles in distance with 1,000-2,000 feet elevation gain.
Starting elevation may be between 8,000 and 11,000 feet. Stops are rarely made in the group for rest breaks.
